Another part of the series about political parties operating in Baránok. In the 6th part, we will talk about Free Baránok, a political party existing from March 2020 to January 2021.

Early days and first election

Free Baránok was established as part of the "new wawe of political parties" in Baránok, a period occurring from late March to late April of 2020, when four new parties were established, with Free Baránok established on 6 April 2020 by K.Č. and M.B. The party's number of members then rose to three, adding H.K. The party had three members up until its dissolution, with no one leaving or joining. FB won two seats in April 2020 parliamentary election, which made them the second strongest party after CDA, however, they ended up in opposition. M.B. was the party's candidate in April 2020's snap presidential election, receiving two votes and losing the seat to A.H.

2nd parliamentary election, K.Č. is the new PM

On 5 July 2020, FB achieved their first success by winning the second parliamentary election by one vote over their main rivals CDA. K.Č. became Prime Minister and formed a coalition with Drunk and Corrupt. His government was largely criticised by citizens of Baránok for its inactivity and putting Baránok to hiatus for most of late 2020.

Downfall starts: significant loss in judicial, gubernatorial and local election

Free Baránok had unsatisfying results in three elections held in autumn of 2020. They gained one of three seats in judicial election (K.Č.), only one of four governor posts (K.Č. again), and none of two mayor posts. This was caused by the unpopularity of K.Č.'s government, for example the Coconut Act, a controversial act proposed by M.B., which featured installing coconuts as the national symbol of Baránok. The bill was called "childish" by opposition politicians and was also the only bill to be proposed by the government of K.Č. during its reign.

Coup and further history

As a result of recent inactivity of Baránok, a coup was launched by opposition parties on 10 December 2020, a month before parliamentary election. The government was deposed and M.M. was elected PM, however, he and his government stepped down the next day. A new election of the PM was organised by the Federal Assembly. This was an opportunity for K.Č. to be elected to the post again, but he ultimately lost to T.L. in the second round. Free Baránok held second place in an opinion poll published shortly after the coup and regained it in parliamentary election on 5 January 2021, being the only opposition party in the FA up until 27 January 2021, when Baránok was dissolved. K.Č. and M.B. later joined Talcon and also co-founded and joined the Democratic Party of Talcon with Imrich Kvajda.
