April 2022 parliamentary election: all you need to know

04/11/2022

This Tuesday (12 April), parliamentary election will be held in Baránok. They are the fifth elections of this kind in the history of Baránok and also the first after the establishment of the Sixth Republic. They will be held, as usual, using the first-past-the-post system, with three candidates that got most of the votes forming the new Parliament, with citizens being able to vote for two candidates. Five candidates from four parties are running for a seat in the legislature. Here is the list of the parties and their candidates list.

Drunk and Corrupt

A traditional party of the Baranese political scene, Drunk and Corrupt are led by incumbent Prime Minister P.L. in this election.

Candidates list:

1. P.L.

Free Baránok

Another familiar party from the past of Baránok, which governed the country from July to December 2020, subsequently being deposed in a coup. It is led by ex-Prime Minister K.Č. A tough fight for a seat in the Parliament is expected between FB and Drunk and Corrupt.

Candidates list:

1. K.Č.

League 36

The most active party throughout the campaign, League 36 is a populist-leaning, anti-establishment party led by S.S. Their campaign's main point was strong criticism of incumbent President M.B., who is now in office for a week. They also organised protests against him, K.Č. and incumbent Prime Minister P.L. earlier this day. They have a relatively big chance to form a government consisting only of themselves, as it is the only party to run with two candidates, with two being a majority in the Parliament.

Candidates list:

1. S.S.

2. D.K.

Socialist Party

Initially the first party ever established in Baránok, it was re-established in March 2022 and is led by Imrich Kvajda. Its main goal is to preserve stability in Baránok.

Candidates list:

1. Imrich Kvajda
